In this special series called the Clean Energy View, which focuses on the world of clean energy, New York’s Energy Luminary, Mr. Robert Catell gives us the scoop on this year’s Advanced Energy Conference which will be held in New York City at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, from April 20th through the 22nd.

The Advanced Energy Research & Technology Center (AERTC.org) which is based at New York State University at Stony Brook is a true partnership of academic institutions, research institutions, energy providers and industrial corporations.

Advanced Energy Conference

The AERTC works to develop advanced cutting-edge technologies to explore new ways for the production of clean energy, enhancing production from renewable sources, and finding efficient methods for distribution and storage of energy with minimal impact on local ecosystems. Its mission is innovative energy research, education and technology deployment with a focus on efficiency, conservation, renewable energy and nanotechnology applications for new and novel sources of energy and to strengthen partnerships among the business, government and academic sectors, to help move towards a sustainable energy future that strengthens the economy, the environment and policy at all levels of government.

Advanced Energy 2016 will put special emphasis on several key areas: Smart Grid, Solar, Offshore Wind, and Battery and Energy Storage.

This is a “must” event for any organization or individual with an interest in these evolving technologies, but it doesn’t end there – a range of other areas will be spotlighted as well, including BioEnergy, Building Efficiency and Alternative Fuel Vehicles.

Breakthrough storage technologies … and evolving concepts in localized MicroGrids integrated with distributed generation. These are two critical elements shaping the future of energy generation and consumption. Both are featured, each as a two-session sequence, in the Advanced Energy 2016 educational program.

Learn about Robert Catell

Mr. Catell was formerly the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KeySpan Corporation and KeySpan Energy Delivery, the former Brooklyn Union Gas. His career with Brooklyn Union Gas started in 1958. Following National Grid’s acquisition of KeySpan Corporation, Mr. Catell became Chairman of National Grid, U.S. and Deputy Chairman of National Grid plc.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) at Stony Brook University, New York State Smart Grid Consortium, Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School (formerly Lourdes Academy), Futures in Education Endowment Fund, and the New York Energy Policy Institute’s Advisory Council (NYEPI).
